TECNO has taken home two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards at IFA 2026, earning recognition for two very different products: the ultra-slim TECNO Modular Phone and the compact Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro).
The awards highlight TECNO’s growing focus on experimental hardware, modular technology, compact computing, and AI-driven devices, extending the brand’s innovation beyond the Camon, Spark, and POVA smartphones familiar to consumers in Kenya.

The TECNO Modular Phone received the Ultra Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award, while the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS won the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award.
TECNO Modular Phone: A 4.9mm Modular Smartphone
The TECNO Modular Phone is perhaps the more unusual of the two products. At just 4.9mm thick, TECNO describes it as the world’s slimmest modular smartphone.
Rather than relying on conventional ports and accessories, the phone uses TECNO’s proprietary Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology. The system combines a precision magnetic array with pogo-pin connectors, allowing different modules to attach directly to the device.

TECNO says the platform supports an ecosystem of 10 high-performance modules, designed to respond to different user requirements.
Despite its extremely thin body, the phone retains a 3,000–4,000mAh battery, while attached modules can draw power directly from the phone. The device also uses a portless unibody construction with an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
The company positions the Modular Phone as more than a design exercise. It is intended to serve as a physical gateway for personal AI assistants, addressing the challenge of adding greater AI computing capabilities to increasingly compact devices.
The concept has already received more than 20 accolades from technology and design publications, including recognition from CNET, Android Authority, Yanko Design and The Verge.
TECNO says the phone is expected to enter mass production soon. For Kenyan consumers, that makes it particularly interesting—not necessarily because it is immediately available, but because it could offer a glimpse of the direction the company’s future smartphones may take.
Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS: Gaming Power in a Compact Body
The second award-winning product takes TECNO into the high-performance desktop space.
The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro) is a compact gaming mini PC measuring around 6.36 litres in volume. TECNO describes it as one of the world’s smallest water-cooled gaming PCs.
Its vertical chassis features a panoramic transparent window, combining the styling associated with Tonino Lamborghini with the hardware-focused design of a performance gaming machine.
Inside, the system is powered by an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, with the graphics platform rated at 614 AI TOPS, a 145W TGP, and support for DLSS 4.

The water-cooling system is designed to maintain peak frequencies under sustained workloads, while the machine offers 15 ports, including OCuLink and USB4, alongside Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
That combination makes the TAURUS relevant beyond gaming. Its hardware could also serve demanding creative and AI workloads, giving it potential appeal to users working with video production, 3D applications, and other computationally intensive tasks.
What the Awards Mean for Kenyan Consumers
The significance of TECNO’s IFA recognition goes beyond the awards themselves.
TECNO is already an established smartphone brand in Kenya, particularly through its Camon, Spark and POVA ranges. These new products show the company experimenting with technologies that sit further up the innovation chain—from modular hardware and ultra-thin smartphones to compact water-cooled PCs and AI-focused computing.
The Modular Phone is particularly interesting because its planned move toward mass production could eventually determine whether modular smartphones become a practical consumer product rather than simply a concept.
Meanwhile, the TAURUS demonstrates that TECNO is also exploring premium computing and gaming hardware, an area that could become increasingly relevant as gaming, content creation, and AI workloads continue to grow.
For now, however, Kenyan consumers should view these products primarily as indicators of TECNO’s technology direction rather than products that are already widely available locally.
Also at IFA 2026
TECNO also used IFA 2026 to showcase other concepts that demonstrate where its product development could be heading.
Among them was the Next Gen Bezelless Concept Phone, featuring what TECNO describes as a 0mm screen bezel, alongside the convertible MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro laptop.
However, these products remain concept devices rather than retail products. That means consumers should not expect to find them in stores immediately.
For Kenyan buyers, they are nevertheless worth watching. TECNO has previously used concept technologies to explore ideas that can eventually influence products in its mainstream smartphone and laptop ranges.
